Phil Neville's first appearance as England head coach was going well until he was asked to name the top scorer in the Women's Super League.

First there was a pause. Then a look to the ceiling. You could tell the former Manchester United player wanted to get this right.

After another pause, and a clue, the 41-year-old said: "It's not Izzy Christiansen." He continued to wrack his brain for what he thought was the right answer.

Twenty seconds elapsed. It was starting to feel uncomfortable.

What Neville didn't know was he had already named the player - Manchester City and England midfielder Christiansen, who has seven goals this season.

As he got up to move onto his next engagement, he was put out of his misery. He replied: "I knew it!"

Im sick of hearing about the Neville brothers. Jaap Stam was right they are busy pair of bastards. One thinks he has invented women's football and the other thinks he can change the skyline of Manchester at a whim.

Someone has already pointed out on twitter that Salford don’t have a women’s team.

How about sorting that out before saying united should have one.

Why don’t women get their own teams rather than riding on the coat tails of men’s teams?

I do tbf. Louis’s press conferences were much better than Mou’s.

We’re 3 places higher in the league than when Aloysius left but we’ve definitely regressed when it comes to levels of press conference entertainment (apart from Mou calling out that wiggy @#%&!, that was ace)

Spot on. What’s the point in diluting the support. What’s better 5 teams with a couple hundred people watching or one team with a crowd of a thousand. Is pointless piggybacking the men’s teams for the pro women game unless it’s a one Club City like Newcastle. The treatment of Doncaster Belles in favour of City greasing palms was a joke.
