Yeah, because that's stopped Madrid in the past hasn't it.

United's improved performance was because the team, who had downed tools and were widely expected to do the same in this game to finish their job of getting rid of van gaal, didn't follow through and lie down. That expectation is what lead to people's reaction to the performance. The change of heart from the players, and the change in tone from scholes and Rio on tv, suggests something's gone on.

Failing to score against a side that were clearly not up for it isn't much of an improvement tbh

Completely get what you're saying and it's quite likely, however...
