Drove the game for Bayern. Very good. Easily outshone Gattuso.

Yep, he pushed Bayern on well second half.

Would be ideal for Euro aways and would hopefully put a stop to 4-5-1.

Why? Would he get the beers in?

He will be ideal for 4-5-1, or 3-5-2

He's been very impressive since he came back, you wouldn't know he has been out for so long.

Will be a great addition to the squad, a better player with the ball than some give him credit for too.

Another school of thought would suggest the opposite Mr Silver.

Beat me too it.

3-5-2 won't be on the agenda though

If we had the option of Hargreaves and 3-5-2 tomorrow night I'd be delighted, put it like that - or at least O'Shea or Brown instead of O'Shea and Brown

Far more to his game than Gattuso, given some attacking license he could offer a lot to Utd, pace, energy, commitment, class player.

Especially over short distances. Added to the fact that he reads the game well, an extremely valuable attribute.

His work rate and fitness is also above most players and, as i mentioned previously, better on the ball than some realise.

Did you see the stats come up that he had run 23km during the game.

Fantastic work-rate.

I wonder why so many are uncertain of him?

Gattuso was talked up as the replacement for Keane many times on RI, and Hargreaves is better than him. Gattuso while very tenacious, offers next to nothing with the ball at feet, and very rarely makes a forward run. Hargreaves reminds me of Paul Ince in some ways, mostly the pace and bursting runs, and i have no doubt in my mind he would be a massive success.

Hargreaves, Carrick and Scholes would give great options.

I didn't see the game but I will think the opposite of your opinion of his performance, everyone else has said he had a blinder.
Maybe you don't understand football.

Possibly years of negative press and not actually seeing him play enough.

Very good comparison. I remember seeing him play a youth game (in one of the big youth tournaments) when he was 15/16 and, even though i was only young myself, he made a very big impression on me.

Obviously he has altered his game now but that day he ran the game, box to box, amazing fitness and energy levels. Obviously he has worked unbelievably hard but he has inherited a lot of that. That day one of his best features was his ability to run from deep with the ball, with such power too. This isn't a particularly dominant feature of his game now but as we both said, as well as his obvious attributes, he is better with the ball than is being suggested.
