Playing FIFA on the PS as a kid I never really saw the attraction of playing as England, as you always had to have @#%&!s in your team. Same as real life i guess.

I'd pick and chose my games. Competitive ones only and tell Trapattoni to stick his friendlies up his wrinkly old arse.

i'd play for capello. but i'd probably be a right moaning @#%&! for pointless friendlies.

and if i was a manchester united player and saf told me at half time that if we were in a comfortable winning position after 70 mins i am to go down holding my knee and i will be taken off in order to miss the friendly in the week and have a rest - i'd be doing that

I know who he is now in fairness and I like what he's doing. Not exactly out of order to notice that tbh.

You'd have to play, wouldn't you, at least if it was for a country that had a chance to play in a World Cup. But I'd set a record for mysterious calf injuries that kept me out of friendlies.

You get what, 10-15 years at the top level if you are supremely fortunate?

Every game I was asked to play, be it United, England, Barbados, Kuala Lumpa, Liverpool , Exeter even, I'd be there, fitness and contract allowing.

It's a short career, you may as well make the most of it.

By the same token, some players feel you can lengthen that short career by not playing international football. Flying off to all corners of the world, no break every other summer, etc. It's worked for the likes of Giggs and Scholes.

The world cup is the pinnacle of a players career tbh.

For some, sure. I would say WINNING a World Cup would be the pinnacle of a player's career. Not necessarily just appearing in one. Ask Roy Keane. Or that French fella what got beheaded by Schumacher.

Or just ask Peter Bonetti.

To summarise:-

Most of us would play for our country. As long as it was the World Cup Final and every other game can gtf.
Most United fans had decided England can £#%&! off at the age of 10.
Fuzzy doesn't know shit.
