Hang on....
He was never a great manager. He took over a side that was already pretty successful and made them slightly more successful for a few years.

Wenger took over in 1996.

That is not the record of a "great" manager.

He's a great manager, or was, it's indisputable unless you're a £#%&!ing mental.

Feel free to contradict everyone else in football who'd say the same.

He's not Fergie, he's not close - but he's achieved fantastic things in his career whilst generally trying to apply a decent philosophy including all those years to pay for their stadium. Do you think there are many other managers in world football who can manage that in their league?

He's a #@&%!, but he'll be remembered as much as Chapman was at Arsenal & they'll build him a statue.

Contrary to what is quoted up the page he has taken them to a Champions League final too.

Could go either way, but it's certain that if Wenger stays they will continue to be spineless jokes who specialise in failure, so fingers crossed he signs a new ten year contract.

When did the back 5 he inherited retire?

For some reason he's never replaced the leadership and mentality that team had and it's been over a decade. Which suggests if he hadn't inherited those qualities in the team, they'd never have had them under wenger and he'd probably have won £#%&! all and been sacked years ago.

Wenger isn't a great manager, because of something it says on Wikipedia

Love this place.

Surely the only way Wenger can stay there is if they go ham in the market as soon as he signs his extension. If they extended his deal and they went out and bought Cavani, Varane, Rakitic etc then they'd be buzzing again in the summer. But they won't, obviously.

Weird thing about Arsenal is their fans seem to think they've got a very good squad that only needs a couple of additions. Really, if a top manager took over this summer he'd have a big job on there, which is perhaps the worst indictment of Wenger. He's not actually leaving a side that you feel is growing into something.

LOL @ this ffs

Legend he is, doesn't even need mentioning what he's done for that club, but how the £#%&! is he able to dictate when and how he leaves ffs???

The level of arrogance he has is crazy, but i guess thats probably part of the ingredients needed to be a top level manager, you've got to have Kanye levels of self belief even in the face of abject failure

Will be interesting to see how it's received by the Arsenal Fan TV lot though... praying for all involved

I think he'll continue to manage well into he's 70's

He's mentioned in previous interviews that he can't imagine his life without football, basically said he doesn't know how SAF does it

Bit sad tbh, i love football but £#%&! me i'd hate to be one of those kinds of people who couldn't see any life outside of it, especially when his influence/success hasn't been what it once was, bat shit crazy is Arsene

He's apparently worth about £50m these days, too. Can't imagine wanting to still work at 70 with that.

Also surely he gets the French job when he wants it? Would be a good fit, too.

We got DAVID MOYES in. They will get a top manager and they have the resources to build from there.

If he did what Jose did & bought a world class spine for the side with some %@#$&!s, you could see them developing. You don't always need big names to get the side to tick, but you do need some leaders.

Wenger won't buy them as he doesn't want the dissent in the dressing room (imo) so he's clearly got to go. They need to tell him to go. & whoever comes in should get that cash to stamp their authority on it. Could you imagine Conte at Arsenal? They'd be twice the side, surely.

Like who? Wenger will surely have an influence on the next appointment, which could be dangerous. The board won't have a clue.

Bound to take a chance on a young German sage, imo.

It's never really been about the money with Arsene though, he doesn't strike me as one of those kind of guys, he just loves the game too much for that to ever enter his mind. So i wouldn't be surprised to see him on that touchline until a medical condition says otherwise *touch wood*

On that note, i've never heard him mention anything about his Missus or kids? Does he even have any? Usually managers cite that as reasons to retire, but i guess his family aren't on his case as much as others

Split from his missus about a year ago.

He seems to be fundamentally against signing proper midfield players. Coquelin in the Champions League ffs.

Should just say £#%&! it this summer and spend every penny there. Do a Fergie with RvP - proper retirement pending yolo signing

Well we did just break the world transfer record for one, having the previous summer got the German captain.

At least we're having a go. £#%&!ing Elneny ffs.
