Default I hope the dippers spend a shedload on Gareth Barry

Just what they need, a very poor man's Xabi Alonso, to replace Xabi Alonso for £15 million.

He's got Liverpool player written all over him. Average at everything. Apart from running, at which he is hilarious.

Yup, a slow, ponderous "ball-playing" centre half masquerading as a midfielder. Brilliant.

Really don't get the hype about him. He looks so average playing against anybody who is half decent. Takes a few touches to turn, turns very slow in general and has no pace at all. Isn't really going to open defences up either in open play. It's more evidence of why the England team is shite, the media picks the team really and Barry gets in ahead of a superb cultured midfielder like Carrick.

People were saying the same about Hargreaves a few years back.

Barry is a good player.

Meanwhile, Hargreaves was busy winning league titles and European Cup's with Bayern.

Yeah but Barry was "keeping it moving" in mediocre Vila and England sides.

I agree with the FC hating shitbag, he is a good player. He isn't a great player but a good one certainly and teams cannot be made up of 11 superstars.

All the plaudits were being slung at Barry before we played them at Villa Park earlier this season. He was played off the park by our midfielders.

He's a decent player. Nothing fancy but he will hardly be the signing that will turn Liverpool into credible title challengers.

No, my point though is, they are either gonna drop a better player in Alonso to play him or shell out a fortune on alonso's backup. either way, they get worse by spending big, great news.

He was that and i have always rated Hargreaves however half of England used to boo him and laugh if he was picked for the national side.

Barry has done well in a shit team.

In terms of dropping Alonso for him I fully agree with you that this is madness, Viva la Rafalution.

the fact he will replace a deep lying playmaker in alonso is hilarious.

Or he'll go on the wing somewhere, replacing Babel, but where he can't beat full backs for pace or trickery. Or he'll go left back. £10m for Barry as a left back.

Really hope this deal comes off.

That'd be quite a match up. I'd be hitting the telly, thinking the pixels had frozen.
