Couldn't agree more. One of maybe half a dozen out of the last 30 players (edit.. meant signings) we have bought who I would sign again.

Great servant; who has produced in largely under performing sides. A league of lower intensity and space to play and Spanish John will still deliver for a year or two.

He's worth 10 of Dan James, still.

Maybe I should have said half a dozen or so; but give me this list of "greats" you would resign on reflection. Since Fergie left I mean? Those who have contributed more than Mata?

Fair enough. Thought it was a bit of crazy claim

He has never reached anywhere near the heights he did at Chelsea for me. Tho he seems a decent bloke.

Yep; played in better Chelsea teams in fairness. And the bench mark in terms of our signings over the last decade or so is not the highest!!

I like mata.

I would not have brought him on away to leicester in 2014.

But that last contract he signed seemed a little ridiculous at the time and even more so now

Shouldn’t have have signed him, never had a role or need for him.

A largely disappointing signing overall. Never managed to really pin down a specialist playmaking role in the side, and has spent most of the last few years deservedly on the fringes of the squad.

Nice fella, incredible bicycle kick goal at Anfield, but ultimately delivered far too little over his United career, and never really matched up to the over-inflated reputation he came from Chelsea with.

Pretty sure the only thing he hasn't won is a league winners medal.WC .Euros .ECL .UEFA .FA .League Cup.Copa del Rey etc .

Hope he completes the set this year

Superb in front of goal.

Past it now but that’s just how it goes. Think his time with us is underrated tbh.
