Do you want him passing through the lines to Martinez to recurve or microwave head ?

It's a simple answer.....

A solid, reliable back four and you would see more building from the back

(I'm a long ball fan btw, IF you win the second ball)
Our entire way of playing football can't revolve around whether Martinez is in the team or not

You've got to stick with that approach otherwise players will take the easy way out and just play long hopeful balls up the pitch if you let them away with it
You have to insist this is the way we play, I'll take all the blame if it goes wrong but you do what I tell you to do or I'll find someone else who will

It's a decision making issue for me, he's slow - there are opportunities to ping it, but then he's dallying on the ball & not picking out the spare man. Then he sends it long & is inaccurate. Even on Sunday he came out when Haaland looked through, excellent reading of the game, but he was there way ahead of him but he just skied it straight back to them when there was a really easy pass to Amrabat on - like piss easy & Haaland was nowhere near closing him down or in the way. He looks nervous & that's not a great quality for that position.

So far he's not a step-change from De Gea, he's mostly calmer at the back but he's still £#%&!ed up enough to be noticeable which isn't improving the situation & not £40m spent improvement. He's a bit shit at shot-stopping.

I don't want De Gea back, I want Onana to be the 'keeper ETH wanted.

Might need to put the on with this... But I didn't think his distribution against City was that bad, including the long balls. I thought the vast majority were on target, whether the target wins the ball in the air is another matter and for the most part out of his control.

Looks be settling down. A lot more assured in the basics and pulled off a couple of worldie saves.

Very solid today.

Yes, particularly liked that one that was a pretty straight forward save that he threw back in to the middle of the six yard box.

He's certainly improved but he still makes basic saves look difficult.

He literally punched one right back into the danger area today
