Default European Leagues

Some interesting tables at the moment.

France

Marseille top the league, 3 points clear of 3rd placed Lyon with a game in hand. Bordeaux are 2nd, 2 points behind. It looks like Lyon's long reign as French Champions may be coming to and end and maybe, no champions league football

Germany

Wolfsburg top the table by 2 points and a game in hand over Hertha Berlin. There is only 3 points between top and 5th placed Hamburg. That's some title race.

Italy

Inter have pissed it. Again. 7 points clear with a game in hand. Shite league
Spain

Barcelona lead by 7 points, Madrid have their game in hand tonight at Sevilla. Real v Barca next Sunday. Could be interesting. 3rd place Sevilla are 25 points behind Barcelona.

The Spanish league isn't as good as some people think it is.

I think Chelsea will beat Barca home & away and we'll see another United v Chelsea final in Rome.

Holland - it's looking likely that for the first time in 50 years, none of PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord will finish in the top two. AZ have absolutely ran away with it (and at the time of writing are 1-0 in Amsterdam)

Lack of excitement doesn't stop it being a top quality league.

Look at Madrid this season. Shambolic to say the least and they have a chance of winning the league if they win their next 2 games.

Sevilla are 25 points behind Barca and they will be in next seasons champions league.

Did the Premier Leauge suddenly lose quality in 99/00? One team absolutely pissing it doesn't mean everyone else has suddenly turned rubbish.

Barcelona are in fact the greatest attacking force the world has ever seen, and their midfield actually invented possession football

Gutted Klinsmann didn't get Podolski settled at Bayern, and the injury to Klose looks to have £#%&!ed them up completely - doubt they'll rescue a flat season now. bye bye Jurgen, you OOT @#%&!.

Yeah. They still have a possibility of pulling it back because they go to the Velodrome to play Marseille in a few weeks, but on current form it's very unlikely they'll catch both teams. It looks like a straight fight between the top two, Marseille and Bordeaux, both of whom have won their last five matches while Lyon have fallen apart at the crucial stage.

What's more likely for Lyon is that they'll drop more points at Marseille and Valenciennes and allow PSG to take third and the final Champions League place. They are in truly awful form during the run-in.

They've already won it. They lost last weekend but PSV handed them the title by hammering Ajax 6-2. Another notch on van Gaal's CV.

Lyon 7 points adrift of Marseille and Bordeaux now. I hope they fail to qualify for the champions league. They're 1 point in front of PSG.

As always, its been looking like there'll be a bit of variety in the Bundesliga, but guess which lot are sneaking their way to an umpteenth title

Barcelona?

Stuttgart have set the Bundesliga up nicely by slaughtering the wolves yesterday.

Indeed, and now Dortmund are coming up on the rails with this incredible run and head to play Wolfsburg next week. It would be typical of this strange season in Germany if they were to nick the title, but chances are they’ll just £#%&! Wolfsburg over and allow Bayern to slip into top spot at the crucial time.

At least it's not Schalke £#%&!ing up at the end this time, I'd hate to be one of their fans

they have to play Hertha and Stuttgart though

it's basically wide open - Bremen go to Wolves 3 days after Istanbul as well

roll on Tuesday - Sosa to score again methinks

Incidentally, Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath has been announced as Schalke coach for next season. Strange timing to make the statement and Wolfsburg duly got hammered in their next game after it was made public he's leaving. Same thing happening in France with Eric Gerets at Marseille. Strange how clubs seem to pick the very worst time to deal with these things.
