United's approach was to Guardiola. Then Ancelotti, then Mourinho. When we found out we were too late for all of them we panicked, appointed a shoddy third-rate compromise candidate and set us back years.

We'd also asked Dortmund but they wouldn't even let us talk to Klopp.

With that kind of faultless forward planning is it any wonder we’re in such a state.

Exactly

He's a £#%&!ing coward that needs everything to be near enough perfect for him

Would never have taken the United rebuild, not in a million £#%&!ing years.

Does any club ever know a year in advance who it's next manager will be? It was a disaster but it's so easy to say that in hindsight. The berts appointing half their board of directors in order to get their manager is a totally unprecedented way of doing things and out of context looks really £#%&!ing odd. Sure we missed a trick by not appointing those directors... ffs, where does that end?

The real mistake was in the 1990s instead of expanding the stadium and marketing we should have drilled for oil.

The real mistake, before the debacle of Fergie's successors, was dropping any ambition to be the best in the world in 2009.

Selling Tevez and Ronaldo and replacing them with Owen and Valencia ... the start of our initially slow descent downwards.

Whatever his real motivations were, Rooney had a point when he questioned our transfer policy shortly afterwards.

Whilst players like Hazard, Aguero, Ozil, Robben etc were moving we were snapping up world beaters like Ashley Young and Chris Smalling.

It's unbelievable.

Though I'm not sure how that widely circulated story of SAF telling Moyes months in advance he was going to be his successor fits with this??

Guardiola was announced to be joining Bayern in January 2013 so it doesn't fit in.

Ferguson's version of events from his late 2013 autobiography is he made his mind up to retire in December 2012 and informed the Glazers in March 2013.

I take that version as the truth as it was told while Moyes was early into the job.

Ferguson has since reshuffled the tale after Moyes turned out to be a disaster. You can tell he's bullshitting to save face as he even started to mention Van Gaal as an option they tried but couldn't get.

Yeah as if the succession plan was to replace a retiring 71 year old with a 60-something year old who had been out of club management for a few years.

Yep. Wouldn’t believe a word Fergie says on the matter tbh, God love him.

TBF, This was the Glazers & not a Fergie decision. As i recall , SAF was happy for Rooney to question Utd's ambition, almost to the point of pushing the stupid @#%&! to say it out loud

I have been consistently offended by Mourinho's management, still doesn't make Pep less of a cowardly @#%&!.

What's stopped him saying anything since he retired?

His last autobiography was a chance to take a pop at a lot of people - why not call them out for jeopardising our chances in Europe?
