That's one way of looking at it. Another is that they lost 1 game in 90 minutes and that was when they put out a B team.

The world only operates in extremes nowadays. England were either brilliant and Southgate should be knighted, or they were shite and only beat cannon fodder.

The truth is obviously somewhere in the middle. They had a decent enough tournament but came up short when it really mattered. A huge improvement over the last 4 or 5 tournaments *cough* ICELAND *cough*.
