Anyone actually think this is a good story?

Start of a drawn out saga where they do actually sell etc etc...

This clearly never happened cos if it did they would have sold, simple as.

The price is clearly set at £1.5billion

Is that 1.5bn cash in hand, debts remain.

Or 1.5bn less the debts and bonds?

If it's the latter, I could understand them rejecting.

That would value the club at nearly £2.5billion

They could have made £500m profit from a few years work if they accepted that deal...it never happened

Why would they sell for 1.5 when the club value is projected to double over the next 3/5 years?

The only thing that will force a sale is a mass boycott or a meltdown on the pitch, neither of which is likely. If you renew this year you vote for the gimps, simple as that.

Right.

And they stand to make how much by sitting tight and doing nothing for the next however many years?

10 times that probably.

They'd accept £1.5b as someone has already said, this is probably the Glazers leaking it to possible buyers know what type of price the Glazers want.

Could be an interesting summer.

Looks like a Glazer press release to me, no quotes, no names, it's a not very subtle invitation to put up or shut up imo.

Yep. Plus the risk is there of a boycott over the next couple of years.

For me it's basically a "we'll accept" release, they get there profit and dont risk of losing any further investment.

Well, they are businessmen at the end of day, in it to make a buck (or rather as many bucks as possible). I am sure they would sell at the right price, but what price that would be, only the gimpo's know. I don't know the in's and out's of what cash they used to (part) purchase the deal, no doubt AndersRed is the man who could answer that, but I do wonder how a 'weak pound' will effect the price. I can't see it rallying anytime soon against the dollar (so essentially if they want X dollars, the sterling price will remain inflated for the time being.....).

That was my first thought.

Hopefully the start of a long, playing-it-hard-to-get, process where daft figures are first mentioned along with loud rejections.

The same process of rumours and denials that follow every big Real Madrid signing.

"We will never, never, never sign David Beckham". Beckham signs for the right money.

Ronaldo: "I stay at United". Ronaldo signs for the right money.

Everyone has a price for everything, and as soon as figures start to be made public, it's the first stage in negotiations.

It might take years, but every businessman knows the value of their assets, and they will sell at the right price.

if and when they do sell it will be for an undisclosed fee. there's no way they'd do it publicly.
