No. They had outrageous fortune and his team kicked the shit out of our flair players under the protection of the referee. He's a @#%&!, proably stuffed a brown envelope or 3 in the ref's sweaty mitt, prior to the game.

I seem to agree with ginlarde.

Portmouth defended tremendously that day.

Read this fantastic post from a respected forumista on that very day:

We dominated the game for pretty much the whole 90 minutes and, I thought, played quite well. The only thing we kept on doing consistently wrong was trying to cross balls into the box and trying to play diagonal balls. Portsmouth probably have the tallest back four in the Premiership and it showed today - which is probably why they have one of the best away records in the Premiership and are yet to condede a goal away from home in the cup. When we play Carlos and Rooney up front, we ain't got much of a chance when it comes to winning things in the air.

This is the kind of game that Anderson needed to play. Hargreaves also had to play as Diarra is a very good player. Personally, I think Scholes should've sat this one out but, as you know, I ain't the manager. We were never going to win the aerial threat and should've kept it on the ground. Nani played well but his balls never beat the first defenders and it seemed that, no matter how many times we failed, the crosses kept coming. I have no doubts that if Anderson had've started the game, we would've won. He would've found a hole somewhere which Tevez or Wazza would've taken advantage of.

The Portsmouth back four probably had their best game of the season and, if it wasn't for that, we would've won. If it wasn't for the penalty and subsequent red card, we would've won the match. So the FA Cup is now gone this season? If we win the league or the CL (or both), will have no complaints. The treble will NEVER be done again. FACT.
