Default Duncan Castles on Mou's transfer strategy this summer

PROJECT MOURINHO: In the first of a four-part series on the Manchester club, Duncan Castles breaks down the new manager's transfer strategy.

Juan Mata, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Bastian Schweinsteiger have all been deemed surplus to requirements by United's new manager, who wants to trim the size of the dysfunctional squad inherited from Van Gaal in order to make space for what he describes as “fundamental” and “supplementary” recruits.

Sad about the players he has put up for sale, but at least he is doing it for a purpose as opposed to doing it for grudge reasons.

Also interesting bits on what Mourinho thinks about Pogba's fee, Woody/LvG £#%&!ing up the Sanches deal....

Rojo and Schweinstiger were inevitable, Mata as well to an extent.

Blind i'm suprised about.

I'd be disappointed if Blind left. One of our most consistent players of the last two years.

What a huge disappointment Schweinstiger has been.

Same Duncan Castles that wrote a few weeks ago Mou had ended his interest in Zlatan?

There were probably moments during the negotiations where Mou thought a deal might not happen.

Would imagine someone like Zlatan had "demands".

Gotta love United getting the blame for Mendes moving his own client to Bayern a couple of weeks too early

Honestly reckon that if we sign Pogba, Felli will start as a deep-lying DESTROYER alongside Carrick, giving Poggers free reign to run riot in attack.

Let's be honest, if there's a manager that Fellaini is tailor-made for, it's Mourinho.
