I think you're wrong not because he's a great penalty taker but because he's a confidence player and taking away penalties would affect his fragile ego and could affect other areas of his game.

Exclamation

why? all previous united penalty takers have missed in the past (apart from eric who used to score every time!) did he ever miss one? think he did - maybe one?? this is just me thinking out loud...

anyway...

louis has done alright for me - as long as he smacks em in he's good.

ronnie would be a good call - one of the best penalty takers i've seen!!

I think Eric missed twice at Elland Road.

We lost 2-1 and won 4-0

As Andy Gray pointed out on Sunday - Saha takes all his penalties with the sidefoot into the goalkeeper's right side. He did it again on Saturday, scuffed it a little and was a bit fortunate that Schwarzer didn't save it.

I'm sure Saha will keep taking them, but if he misses again it should definitely be passed over to Ronaldo.

To be fair to Saha, even if he did scuff it, he still hit it with power. Even though it was close to Schwarzer, he couldn't get down in time for it.

I knew it was 2. And I should have remembered the one at Blackburn because I was there.

Who gives a shit how badly he hit the pen on Sat.

The history books will always have it down as 2-1 United with Saha scoring a penalty

i expected him to show some variation with this penalty but he still hasnt learnt.

any keeper now will save a saha penalty as he puts it in the exact same place

Just because Schwarzer didn't save it that doesn't mean it was a good penalty.

I know it's a bit overly critical, but Boruc said he knew Saha favoured that side and that helped him save the one at Celtic.

Maybe it wasn't guesswork that Schwarzer went the right way. Like I say, I don't think it was a bad penalty - but it was saveable, and his choice of placement is predictable.

He doesn't inspire confidence, for me. Until he shows a little variation and scores a couple more - I'll be pretty nervous when he's stepping up.

Amazing stuff from Eric. He must have watched the goalkeeper to see which way he was going and decided where to put the ball at the last moment - something which obviously takes great nerve and tremendous technique.

Eric's finest penalty taking moment(s) was at Wembley v Chelsea in 1994.

Agree - that pen on Sat wasnt very convincing at all. If you see the view from behind him he even scuffed it a little as it bobbled over the line slightly. The next miss could cost us.

Ronnie on them asap but Ive a feeling we've got Saha until next miss. (which could cost us of course)
