This isn't rugby pal, you can be in front of the ball and not be offside...

Do you mean 'the man'...

The ball actually went backwards though. He was offside when the ball hit the Sporting player inadvertently and it moved towards the goal.

Pretty sure years ago, it didn't matter if it was inadvertent or not, if it was played by the opposition player you weren't offside.

By the rules, it was the correct decision.

It’s irrelevant that the ball went backwards, it’s not in the rules. He was ahead of the ball when it was headed by the spurs player, that’s why it was offside

They need to sort out the offside and handball rules.

Pretty sure I said it was the correct decision

I was explaining it in the context of before the rule changes, it would have stood.

With this one I'm wondering what would have happened if the rebound had gone in as the ref doesn't blow until it goes out of play. The pelanty was awarded after the game had finished by VAR so technically as soon as the missed the ref should have blown no?

Can only imagine the verbals being given to Carrasco there at the end as he inadvertently spanners the follow up over the bar from a yard out
