Watched it last year and kept waiting for it to kick in with interviews / life story etc but no.. just him playing for the full game.

I wouldn't mind, but it was a shit match as well which he didn't even play brilliantly in.

At their Juve peak Zidane and Davids were playing a game on their own, i'm not saying they were better than Keane and Scholes at their peak but they weren't far off.

don't know how many that is but i could probably come up with more. goalkeepers/defenders hardly register in discussions of the greatest players of all time because everybody tends to focus on the attacking side, and zidane was a beautiful attacking player. but one of the greatest of all time? nah, far too many games where he did little imo. a very inconsistent player for much of his career, remembered more for beautiful moments and standout performances in some big games than anything else.

I'm with Borsuk on this. And I'm serious when I say he wasn't as good as Cantona.

Not that Borsurs isn't a little bit right, Zidane is idolized by the YouTube / Pro Evo generation, as immense as he was, Rivaldo was better in the same period imo (& plenty of others as I recall seeing the debate on here a while ago).

I'd still prefer to watch Zidane more than most though.

Ronaldinho? In his prime > Zizou, imo.

i thought about him but his prime was so short, similar with duncan edwards, for different reasons obviously. plenty of others could be in the list - rivaldo, batigol, del piero, neeskens, schmeichel etc.

Id say they were tbh.

The Keane Scholes partnership wasnt even always first choice away in Europe until 2000. SAF often picked Butt for the big aways. (Dortmund 97 and Juve 99 spring to mind.)

thats because of the 4 4 2 system could be easily exposed.
Little to do with the ability of the players. more their styles of play if anything.
