Default Red News - 25 today

Surprised nobody has mentioned this yet. So here's raising a glass to one of Britain's longest running fanzines

Thumbs up

I'll point Barney in the direction of this thread, he'll be ecstatic.

I've never read it. A United fanzine done by a cockney? Carlo writes for it so that gives it plus points in my book but y'know...cockneys.

Red News was the first fanzine I ever got. I used to get it from Omega music in Northwich. The bloke that owned the shop was The Charlatans manager too.

I remember David Meek slagging it off in the Evening News for making crude jokes about scousers, next thing I heard was Red News sales had gone up about 400%!

It was really £#%&!ing depressing to read during Eric's ban and I stopped getting it at that time. I felt much worse after I'd read it than beforehand.

Steve Harrison. Omega was a cracking shop, when the used to have the 7"s upstairs in a little room it was like a goldmine.

cockney singular. Barney is one of the nicest blokes you could ever meet - one of the toppest reds I know.
