And I don't think there's many managers that could have managed it better. Don't think there's any tbh. Can't even think of Fergie managing such a smooth removal of a politically important player.

Outstanding player for the club. Such an exciting player over the years. Had everything pretty much.

Im the same age as Rooney. I lived his career. He did it for real and i watched him. In any other era with any other player he would be renowned(is that the spelling) as a hero. but he never done it for me. I honestly couldnt even say im sad to see him go. He gave me moments... Barca in Wembley, Milan at home and the Derby of course, the volley v Newcastle aswell. Im sure ther are many more but truth be told... he was never.. ever... a red. We got our moneys worth and so did he. Good deal all round.

Lying bastard...Was going bald well before he reached 25!!

On a serious note, I can't thank him enough..

The transfer saga in 2010 did sour things quite a bit. Add that to the Fergie thing in 2013 ( Who was telling the truth?)

Either way....Last two or three years aside, I loved everything about the £#%&!er! So many moments, so many memories...Forget the club for a second, he brought great times to me personally and I can't express my thanks enough....We lost it but, the 2011 CL final...The one player on the pitch who just had the aura of "United" about him...He never stopped that night!

Obviously I wish it was different and that he looked after himself better but, £#%&! it! It is what it is.

Thanks

Wasn't his failure to "stop" Busquets a big factor in the defeat?

I think Vidic puking his guts up before a ball was kicked, Carrick and Giggs getting humiliated, Hernandez, VDS and Valencia shitting themselves and the row at HT, were bigger factors

Still annoys me

Farewell Wayne, thanks for everything. It only seems real now I've unfollowed him on Instagram.

so you think fergie furiously dug him out on the touchline during the game for nothing then?

we had a plan. we didn't stick to it.

it's unfortunate for rooney that he we had 4 european finals and he didn't perform in any of them (apart from scoring out of the blue in the one we fell apart in.)

on the flip side he did his bit in some of the domestic finals and the world cup.

The 15 goals striker bet is one I do most years.......

You win some, you lose some...it’s the benchmark for a decent season imo
