People used this argument with Michael Owen. He has worked out alright considering.

It'd be a decent signing if he'd take less than £100k and was happy to be a squad player.

Nine goals in total. Winner against City. Hatrrick in Europe against Hamburg. Equalising goal against Aston Villa. All the while being on a appearance based contract and being signed on a free. Not bad at all.

And then his leg falls off.

Its only a matter of time before Joe Coles head falls off too, his neck cant take the strain for much longer surely.

If you like that sort of thing. Now out for the rest of the season, just when he will be needed. Fantastic.

The main point being, that Cole won't be on a 'pay as you play' he'll be on a kings ransom on the nose, £120k a week or something equally stupid, and his injury record over the last few years is worse than Owen's.

Again, no thanks.

He will be free (if he doesn't sign a new contract) and its, obviously, well known Fergie likes him.

Could do a job on the left - or even better, in the middle.

Got a bit of news on this actually, that in my eyes proves he's signing for us, but i won't bother sharing it because i'll just be shot down as a wumstation timelord.

Suffice to say though, you can bump this when he signs for us.

My sister is not really mates, but was in the same year as Joe Coles missus at School, so has her on her facebook. Her status a couple days ago was some vague line about 'becoming a northerner....' and according to my sister, was followed by about 40 comments from mainly men underneath it, asking if Joe was going to United or City. She didnt reply though so i dunno.

Nothing concrete, just what she said.
