Default Cole replace the role of Scholes?

Obviously scholes legend and more talented.

But I was after a few opinions ( facts would be a bonus )

Regardless of how you view joe cole as a person etc ( think he is a @#%&! of a man ) do you think he could do a scholes role for us?

Exactly, he's a decent option as the wide option of a front 3 either side or behind two strikers in a free role. He did well at West Ham years ago playing in a midfield 2 but they still got relegated & I think anyone that played alongside Steve Lomas must have looked like Zidane in comparison.

Thought that was Cahill and Rodwell.I know Pienaar hasn't.

Rather him than Cole.Rather Arteta than both.

The only way this would be acceptable is if we signed another midfielder along with him.

We didn't do freebies too often, now 2 summers in a row.

Arteta has just come back off a cruciate injury as well, how long was he out for? Not seen him even manage 90mins since, Everton should rinse City for £20m+ for him imo.

Not yet. Now would be the time if that move was to be made. And it should be. It would be stupid not to in fact.

You said replacing Scholes... who doesn't ever play that role

That formation is where I'd play him, or behind 2 strikers, or as the wide player in a front 3 either side of Rooney.

You sure? Didn't he play something like the last third of the season?

Honestly not sure, he only played 16 games all season, 13 in the league. He was out for ages.

Its not like Fergie ever sticks with the same team anyway, those three behind Rooney would chop and change most weeks. Cole would play left side, behind Rooney, right side, off the bench etc

Joe Cole could replace Scholes in the same way Owen replaced Ronaldo.

joe cole is a decent player, but he's better out wide. i'd say he'd be a replacement for giggs if anything, although he's nowhere near as good, obviously.

If they stayed fit ( i know if etc )

you would have a very motivated and hard working line up there.

Rooney and fletch always give 100%

Valencia wont even celebrate goals incase it restricts his energy levels.

nani wants to keep proving everyone wrong

Cole and Hargo would be up for it big time.

In contrast Carrick with his lack of urgency/time on the ball and the languid bulgarian.
