Sporting Lisbon fans attack players at training

Sporting Lisbon have "vehemently condemned acts of vandalism and aggression to athletes" after a group of fans reportedly attacked players and trashed the club's training ground.

Sporting are preparing for Sunday's Portuguese Cup final against Aves.

Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha posted pictures of forward Bas Dost with several bad cuts on his head.

The club missed out on a Champions League place on the final day of the season.

Apparently at the behest of the president (former ultra) who's fallen out with the manager & squad since losing to Atletico in the quarters, when he went on sms and said he was going to suspend them all

Not a great day for Sporting - yesterday a scandal broke out about their handball section fixing games, now it's spread to the football side too & there's been several arrests
