Plenty of great Motson moments with United.

He can £#%&! off

“A bit excited”

Always seemed to have more time for the London clubs, it was not really biased commentary though, just empathy in his wording.
If it was a London club player making a poor tackle he might describe it as " an unfortunate collision", or a bad miss, would be 'bad luck with that one".
London clubs success would be described as 'deserving ' of a good result' for others it would be "fortunate, a few things went their way".
His bias was subtle, not like the Liverpool 'luvvies' we get now!

‘The most famous club in football’ ...when united lifted the fa cup in 83 I think. No Abu would say that, and with such enthusiasm too. And his narration on the BBC United history video in 89 was excellent. A narration I think he wrote. He’s never shown any Abu tendencies as far as I’m aware.

That video also has an interview with Fergie that I love. Especially now we know what happened after.

They took him off live broadcasts about ten years ago when he started losing it. Has been going to tourneys as a gesture.

Didn't take the hint so he's been getting the least high profile Saturday 3pm game each week so they can edit together his commentary for MotD and make him sound slightly more competent than the rambling mess he's been for the best part of a decade.

I never minded Motson tbh, to say he's an Abu is a bit scouse. Hes nothing of the sort. Then again some reds swear blind Neville is one as well

I considered it tbh.

Hope he falls out of the commentary box at Spurs new stadium and plummets to his death.

Meanwhile, his "rival" Barry Davies finally retired on Wimbledon's closing day.
