Blind has been more than decent at times at CB but you always feel that he can be exposed physically. If Carrick goes in the summer perhaps we might see him used in midfield more often, his passing from deep has been very good even though he has moments when he makes basic errors.

Always felt his spell as first choice CB was a stopgap choice.

More often than not he looks like a deer in the headlights. In a better team we'd have time to ease him in and build him up but he's been chucked in at the deep end and is floundering a bit. Hopefully he picks up.

Blind is a bigger concern imo. He's not looking even nearly good enough to hold down a regular place and is looking nothing more than a squad player (an average one at that). As others have said - he's awful in 1 on 1's but on Saturday he wasn't even doing the basics correctly. His short passing was awful at times and you expect more from someone whose technical ability is supposed to be his key asset.

We really need more quality at the back. Stones is the obvious one but I'd like to see an experienced full back who can play on both sides. We may as well cut our losses with Jones and bring in Stones plus full back. Ideally the full back would come this window, Stones can wait until the summer.
I guess Smalling is the experienced guy now. Easier to pair a younger player like Stones with him. Murillo at Inter is apparently a brilliant young defender also.... big, fast and strong with good distribution.

Problem for Darmien is that he lacks obvious physical gifts and talents.... that means he has to make a shit ton of improvements technically and mentally as he can't rescue mistakes with speed and strength, or by providing some flair in attack. He needs to work damn hard to improve and make the step up. Not an obvious one.

Watch the several counters he stopped as well.

Blaming that mess of a goal solely on him smacks of grandstanding after you rashly called him our worst ever defender or some shit.

Shoulda bumped your other thread.

Shocking pass for their offside goal too. Had an absolute fellaini of a last half hour. Needs to get his act together

Problem is, he tends to bottle it when we really need him.

The lad has a yellow streak - unusual for an Italian.

TBF we have a bunch of weaklings across the back four

Even smallers got bitched about, young bleurgh, and blind at centreback is suicide.

He's been a liability since day one. Remember his antics at Villa. Could understand if he was decent going forward, but £#%&! me he's utter dross going forward.

Thought he was alright tonight, until his support was taken off and he was exposed. Doesn't help that Blind offers him little in terms of cover.

The defence is currently comprises of a right footed winger at RB, a midfielder at CB and a RB at LB. no wonder it looks ropey.

Nobody's arguing we don't need a complete rebuild at the back.

Both ends of the pitch, we're a £#%&!ing mess. But don't worry - we won't sign anyone because it's a bit awkward in january.

We'll be 9th by feb
