'Hazard, 32, joined Los Blancos from Chelsea in 2019 for £89m, but played just 54 league games for the Spanish giants, including only six in 2022-23.'

On a par with some of our signings over the last few years.

What a waste. Was the best player in the premier league for a while.

Reminder that eric retired at 30

Loco that I'm 10 years older than that but still think I'm much younger than him at that age

Speaking of which

‘ He is also one of only four players in Premier League history - alongside Thierry Henry, Matt Le Tissier and Eric Cantona - to score 15 or more goals and provide 15 or more assists in a single season, having netted 16 times and laid on 15 assists during the 2018-19 campaign.

Odd player Hazard. Straddled that post-Fergie // pre-Guardiola/Klopp period where English sides were resoundingly mediocre. For all the aggro Rashford gets, at 25 he's already put up 2 superior goal scoring seasons in dysfunctional teams to anything Hazard ever did out of the same wide/inside forward position.

Couple of league titles and FA Cups in dour Conte/Mourinho Chelsea teams? Completely went missing in knockout football for his country. Meh.

Wasn’t it a big deal when he apparently chose Chelsea over us? Or at least sky sports made it out to be.

Fat little midget can £#%&! off.

Such a weird last few years of his career.

Conveniently ignoring assists tbf. Hazard was never primarily a goal scorer, and it’s a bit weird to compare him to a player who played as a striker for large parts of the seasons you’ve mentioned.

Let's broaden the net then to look at the whole picture.

Over his past 4 full seasons, Rashford has scored/assists on average 19 times a season.

During his last 4 full seasons for Chelsea, Hazard scored/assisted on average .. 19 times a season.

Of 7 seasons, Hazard scored more than he assisted in 6. He had low single-digit assists in 3 of his final 4 seasons. So .. yeah .. he kind of was primarily a goal scorer.

Hazard was a good Premier League player who won a couple of titles in unimpressive teams and did nothing internationally, in the way Rashford is a good Premier League player who has been saddled in a very dysfunctional team and done nothing internationally. Neither really bear comparison with their elite peer-group, which Hazard showed when he went to Madrid & Rashford shows by virtue of his inconsistency.

Incredible player at his peak.

Scored one of the best goals I've ever seen at Anfield.

Lol at Carragher on commentary.

I’m not sure you know what primarily means.

You were talking about single seasons. Rashford has never had a season as prolific in goal output and creation as Hazard’s final season at Chelsea, in fact very few players have. Just facts.

Great player for a while. Him and Mata ran rings around us that second half in the FA Cup in 2013. He was brilliant for Mourinho.

Rashford is not and will never hit the level Hazard reached. It’s not even debatable.
