Yeah, smart move leaving one of the top 3 jobs in world football as part of a sneaky long term plan to land one of the top 10 jobs in world football.

With realistic expectations.

We can’t know this of course, but would you bet against him feeling the vibe that if they didn’t win the CL he was getting tinned? Nobody can win a major trophy every year.

He’d have left before long anyway. Now he’s probably the no1 candidate for any top job that opens up over the next year and doesn’t have to worry about the timing being right.

As crazy as it sounds it might not be the worst thing for Madrid. Dreadful league campaign and based on their performances in the latter stages Zizou might feel he got away with it a little in the CL this year. 4th and an early exit next year and his stock is lower.

Exactly. He's no fool, he knows how lucky he was. Quit while you're winning.

Based on the fact he’s achieved more in three years than most managers have done in 20+ year careers and may want to add a World Cup and European championship to his achievements while France have a squad packed full of talent?

Not faulting your logic pal, just the use of the word surely.

Could argue best time to take this French side may be in a couple of years when Mbappe and Dembele have developed. And Pogba has £#%&!ed off.

If that’s what it takes then I can see him sitting it out for a while tbh, he wouldn’t want to jeopardise his chances of getting the national job...surely?

I think it's pretty much inevitable he'll take it one day. Their greatest player who has now won three CLs as a manager? Nailed on.

That France side in 6/7 years should be something special if Dembele, Fekir and Mbappe develop. Maybe even Martial

I really don't want to see Fekir turning up at Liverpool. Hopefully he's just using them.

I wouldn’t bet on it pal. Can imagine, as an attacking player, the prospect of playing for Klopp is appealing..

If Klopp gets a good goalkeeper and fields a front six of Fabinho, Keita, Fekir, Firmino, Mane and Salah, he starts to come under title challengers pressure imo. Especially as Van Dijk and Robertson have settled well. No financial excuses with that side on paper imo.
