I assume we will have to sell him in the summer or risk losing him for nothing
I wonder what top clubs aboard will be looking to sign Rooney. Don't think there will be much interest from aboard given the wages he wants which he isn't worth so selling to Chelsea might be the lesser of all domestic evils
All Aboard!

I think we'd be better off moving Rooney on if we can get a good replacement. He is almost 30 and isn't what he was even 2 years ago.

Nearly, as in not even close - He'll be off in any event, Chelsea more than likely

When there were rumours of a disillusioned Van Persie wanting out a few weeks ago the common consensus on here was that he could go with our blessing. Who could blame him after all?
He's only been at United for just over a year! How has he built up so much goodwill in such a short space of time? He was an Arsenal player 18 months ago ffs It'd be far more disloyal if he £#%&!ed off.
Rooney's given United a decade service & has been part of the most successful squad in the Club's history. He's scored boat loads of goals & makes just as many.

Apart from anything else, he hasn't actually said he wants to go has he? Is it not just the Press stirring again?

We'd be royally £#%&!ed without him. He's far & away our best player. It's not even up for debate.

If Chelsea were willing to part with 30m after last seasons form he must be woth double that now. He's our best player by a country mile . :shakehead:

He is doing the right thing.

He wants out, so will wait till after the wc for another chelsea/better club, after his improved form this season ( and in his mind the wc)

He wants better players for united??....yeah just not near his position.

Thumbs up

Tbh I would have been one of the people who was hoping he would £#%&! off last summer, obviously glad he did not but there were mitigating circumstance ie his lack of form, weight issues, transfer requests.
I think that he has played a blinder by staying, getting fit and getting back into form, it has been good for the club and good for him. He has put hikes of in the shop window and will surely have more options next summer if he decides he wants a move.
I would wish him well if he goes, he owes us nothing and has given us some great memories.

He has one year left on his contract after this season so we would be very lucky to get 30 million for him in the summer especially as there won't be that many clubs in for him with the wages that he will want

No point selling him at this point. If he won't sign, let him run his contract down.

I don't think the club will allow it, RVP went for £24 million factor in another years wages and you're looking at £36 million gone

that is true. be suicidal to let him go.

just don't think the 'want to win trophies' argument is a sound one.

not that rooney is saying that. just this thread

So we've given Rooney about a year to play himself back to some kind of form and confidence, in the process ruining kagawa, Hernandez and really limiting welbecks development just so he can take that form to Chelsea.

If fergie knew his players wanted out, he'd be dropped. A) You have to prepare the team for life without him and B) if he's not playing he's not happy or fit and there's a chance he changes his mind or clubs don't come in for him.

Especially true when we can't command a big fee for him so the shop window tactic is irrelevant.

Moyes isn't in a strong enough position to do that

He has be been walking on egg shells when it comes to Rooney since he was appointed as Rooney has more power at Utd than Moyes
