He's always looked a good defender to me and the only reason bigger clubs stayed away was because of his age I suppose. If he comes here as a stop-gap I see no reason why it'd be a bad deal. The fact he's performed to a solid level consistently under different coaches and while his best team mates are being sold left and right is a plus. He's got international pedigree and keeps himself fit so as a third choice (presume Smalling and Bailly will start together) he'll be very useful.

Jones has the talent but we can't rely on him. #RojoIsShit.

8m is a steal.

Neil warnock had him at palace. Said he was a bit clumsy and always had a mistake in him.

Seems average to me.

i doubt you even see the comedy of your snide btw but its saturday night so cba to go there
It was supposed to be comedy

The funny thing is you don't seem to realise that it's Blind he's looking to replace and Smalling will be straight back in for Blind as soon as he's available

Hopefully won't get a look in anyway if Smalling and Eric stay fit.
And when the tournament ended who was playing and who was carrying towels you #@&%!

If he's Portuguese, it's a good signing for Jose. Can get in his ear, talk his language - literally.

We don't have any portugeezers afaik.

Pepe was doing the graft of two men, I've seen milk turn faster than Fonte, not a chance we'll be signing him.

Must mean Jones is finished if is happens.

Fonte is surely no better than Bailly, Blind and Smalling, and he's hardly going to get better at 32.

Soon as he did this to his hair, it was as good as a transfer request.

better than both Smalling and Jones who are always liable to make silly mistakes,, get rid of Rojo, Jones and Smalling and have Blind, Bailly and Fonte as our 3 centre backs........

We need reliable options tbf. Jones and Rojo hardly tick that box.

Bailly will be £#%&!ing off in January.

Can't say I'm particularly enthused by this.

Hopefully a cheap stop gap so we can drop some dough on another attacker/CM..
