Completely agree. The ones who try so hard to be the biggest England haters are almost as bad as the ones who deck their house out in flags and put mini flags on their cars.

The world cup is a great event and some people get far too embroiled in playing the top red to just enjoy it.

Yeah it's rather strange. One thing I £#%&!ing hate about international football is all these rugby types and women who flood to the pubs to watch them play. Become some alan Hansen esque pundits once every four years, it really winds me up. The last time I watched England in a pub was against France in euro 2004 when some utter cretin said 'who the £#%&!s that #@&%!' about Lillian Thuram. Wasn't up for being wound up like that again so I just swerve it now.
Most of these top red anti England types don't actually go united anyway so they don't have a say in it as far as I'm concerned. Used to love seeing small time nob heads getting wound up over Argentina chants etc but that's as far as it gos here pal.

too good for United never mind the national team: "happy clappy crew" being criticised for having to stand and take scouse gloating at OT

Must say quite a bit of the gloss has gone for me though, largely due to some of the mongs who follow England using it as a stage for ABUism and the way Scholes was misused as well as the inevitable scapegoat being a United player - apart from that, I'd still like us to do well and enjoy it without being accused of "giddyness" by some victim of cool.

The pair of you can £#%&! off

You want to see Gerrard lift a trophy ?

£#%&! off

You want a bunch of ukip @#%&!s who sing the national anthem to have something to celebrate ?

£#%&! off

You want the team that represents the FA, an organisation who has hung united out to dry regularly, to win a trophy?

£#%&! off

It's not about being a top red, it's about understanding who and what the national team represents, I can almost forgive sparky because he lives in a jingoistic city who views national pride through rose tinted glasses, but Felix should hang his head in shame

I will enjoy the World Cup, can't wait for it to start, but as well as looking forward to seeing some great football I will also enjoy seeing England getting knocked out

The England football team makes me feel even more unpatriotic.

But he's fackin' England now isn't he? He's a cockney so all was forgiven. I preferred it when he was just United.

Glad to see the 'defenders' of our proud England team seem to have forgotten those of us in the middle who just couldn't give a £#%&!

I don't watch international football for the same reasons as club football - the only 'affiliations' I have are to Germany and England due to blood line - and I have enjoyed watching Germany far more over the past 2 decades than England. The last tournament I thought England were impressive in was Euro 96, nearly 20 years ago ffs.

I don't go out of my way to 'hate' england, but nor could I care less how they do. I suspect it may be different if there were more united players in there, but people seem to overlook the fact that the England team has very little soul about it. How anyone can 'hate' Gerrard, Hart, etc during the season then love or cheer them on during an international tournament is beyond me. At least the '96 side IMO had some character and flavour about it.

People can follow who they like but don't tar everyone with the same 'top red' brush just because they don't get behind England. From a relatively objective point of view, England are a complete joke of the international world.

"This is our tournament!" Sound familiar?

It's not a World Cup until I hear Garth Crooks reporting what the squad had for breakfast

Plenty of home and away reds from Manchester I know who will be going over to Brazil pal. It's not my scene tbh but I couldn't care less. I'm sure you'll know some of them also.
