That's what he should play. As for what he will play is anyone's guess. He was talking about how great it was that Fletcher was back last night

I expect him and Saha to feature. Scholesy should start after an hour's rest

Fully expect Giggs to be rested.

How long before we can expect Nev, Evra and Vidic back?

giggs needs a rest and will be crucial for the return against roma with scholes out. the back four which will play against roma needs playing time together. saha needs some time and it would make sense to give fletcher some playing time as, without park and scholes, he will be on the bench if not in the team (please, god, no).

so, i would go with

with fletcher for ronnie (assuming we're winning), richardson for ole and smith for rooney at some point.

fletch should not be anywhere near the team saturday or tuesday. roma might be average, but they're not shit. although.... how much a hissy fit will totti have if fergie not only forgets to mention him, but also puts fletch as his opposite number?

Doubt Richardson will start this game. He'll be saved for the semi-final at Villa Park.

I really don't think Giggs will start and, frankly, rightly so.

He simply can't play every game anymore. It's all very well saying strongest 11 all the time, but he needs resting for a reason - he'll start to look jaded and lazy.

If we bring in Fletcher for him and Saha/Smith for Ole then we should still have far too much for Portsmouth.

It's all about balance. If you put a 'plugger' in there then you need to keep some guile in there to balance it out. For every Smith there needs to be a Scholes and for every Fletcher a Ronaldo
If two or more of Scholes, Rooney and Ron start (and they will) then we should have too much for 'Pompey' (Christ, I hate that nickname).

The defence picks itself.

The danger is resting too many top players and not having enough out there to win the game. The game is too important for them to let that happen.
