I'm not really watching, it's just background noise but I heard Tyldesley say 'it's looking more and more like a resounding send-off'

not really looking to have a pop at him, but on tonight's evidence i wouldn't start him against italy.

Okay the defence is suspect (like a few at the WC) but that's a good side. Sterling, Ox/Barkley, Sturridge, Clevz, Lamps as sub options.

But Hodgson will probably base his side on a slow tempo and an awful midfield, just as he did at the Euros.

There is no way you can pick a team without Sturridge, that's just comical tbh.

Gone for balance of the side more than who the best individuals are, tbf. Plus I'd always want a goalscorer off the bench.

But yeah, Sturridge could and possibly will be first choice. The point was more about the options

Like a brick wall ffs

He's nowhere near the player he was. He peaked years ago.

I've never known a supposed top player look worse than him when he's not fully match fit. It's like watching a pub footballer. Whenever he's coming back from injury or suspension he takes forever to get his touch and form back. He'll be rubbish in this world cup.

At least Gerrard came in and tidied up there, ala Busquets
