The way the english (and it seems irish) perceive english players compared to foreigners is astounding. Gerrard is about to be beatified while Ronaldo they just want to crucify. And yet who is the world champ, who's scored the most goals?

Outside of Pool fans with word processors like Dion Fanning, the number of Irish you'll get talking up English players is severely limited (overly so). The usual crap.

Rio Ferdinand is still not appreciated in some peculiarly thick circles.


Ronaldo is a supremely talented footballer who has some horrible traits on the park that diminish him as a player.

If he cut out the play-acting and the diving, the guy would get more free kicks and penalties.
