FFP would have been a nice idea back in the days of clubs running off their match day revenue and fairly limited merchandising and sponsorship opportunities. Perhaps we could have had an illusion of parity.

Can't pretend to have real insight into the finances of the game but are Utd, Barca, Madrid and Bayern not the teams most likely to gain longterm if FFP was enforced? Dominant, money making machines who would be close to untouchable, or more so, if the Sugar Daddy types were removed from the game. Started to feel like they are almost a necessity to have some level of competition, though a couple of them going to Spain to shake up Barca/Madrid could be fun.

UEFA have long been after a European superleague that takes precedence over domestic leagues. No surprise they wanted to enforce something that looked fair and reasonable on the face of it, but which would ultimately strengthen their case.

I would have thought the fatigue that is often mentioned over the CL would be a counter argument to a Superleague. How many times can you watch Madrid/Barca/Juve/Bayern play each other before you yearn for some variety?

If you can increase revenue by say £100m you can afford these deals but if revenue stalls or decreases you're £#%&!ed.
But on their other hand you've still got all the big spending from previous windows still sat there like the amortisation of the John Stones deal and so on. It's more about their ridiculous sponsorships from cousins like we used to get for the sponsored swim at school.
