Default David de Gea is the best United keeper since Schmeichel

Only Van Der Sar comes close.

Bosnich - joke
Barthez - did ok, people exaggerated his errors
Van der Sar - legend
Tiabi - lol
Van Der Gouw - loved laid back Rai
The Andy Gorman twins - nai tae bad
Tim Howard - good shot stopped but United was too much pressure.
Roy Carroll - jim leighton mark 2
Ben Foster - too much pressure
Tomas Kuszczak - horsemeat
Ricardo - loved conceding penalties
Luke Steele - can't remember any howlers
Paul Rachubka - no idea

so there

One of the Gormans fielded a backpass once, that's about all I remember about them being here. Apart from Froggleson picking him for a friendly against Celtic

Loved Big Eddie. Moscow :mmmonkey:

Hope De Gea gets that good.

Not a £#%&!ing chance.

And he pips Schmeichel as far as I'm concerned by not being a complete and utter arsehead too.

im not entirely sure that schmeichel was a better keeper than vds tbh.

In his time at united i cant remember big eddie making many mistakes( possibly getting beat easily at near post in champions league final) other than that i cant think of a whole lot.

Schmeichel on the other hand was always capable of a mistake.

There was one big VdS boob at home to West Brom in the 2010-11 season - it cost us a perfect home record that PL campaign

Nani got the second, decent left footed finish iirc.

This. VdS was solid. We were lucky to have him and wish we'd bought him a few seasons earlier.

He's also a cool mother£#%&!er.

Between Schmeichel and VDS I would definitely go with VDS

He maybe couldn't make the miracle saves that Schmeichel could but he made fewer mistakes

However the main reason is that he was much better with backpasses than Schmeichel

maybe im wrong but i think, when you look back to schmeichels era, there weren't many keepers of his stature.

Schmeichel was big, broad, intimidating and that was half the battle against strikers. he was incredible in one on one situations, and he scared the shite out of centre forwards, that was his niche.

When you look at van der sar he was so much better technically. Better under crosses, just as good shot stopper, a whole lot more agile and his kicking/control was much better.

In scmeichels defence, its a lot easier to side with vds given memories of him are fresh in the mind as opposed to schmeichels best days which were probably 96-99.
