Blinkered idiots like Throb seem to forget that during his first few seasons Carrick was playing in a midfield with players like a prime Scholes and a fully fit Hargreaves; the likes of Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez were also tearing Europe to shreds up-front, too.
When the quality started to disappear from the squad Carrick's dip in form was much more noticeable. Park is another good example - he looked really good in a team with many great players, but in a weaker team (United 2009/10 onwards) his responsibilities increased and his weaknesses became more apparent.
Carrick has really stepped it up though and taken on the responsibility of a first-choice, senior, Manchester United player. It's a shame our wig-wearing, Scouse striker hasn't had the balls to do the same.
