Not sure if we need this guy, and I'm worried that it might mean he's coming instead of Vidal.

He can play wing-back, but we've got Rafael and Valencia for the right side, and Shaw and Young for the left, and if Vidal signs, surely a midfield selection of Vidal, Herrera, Fletcher, Carrick and Cleverley is enough. Van Gaal has also spoken about using Kagawa in midfield.

I've long been a Young hater, but if he carries on like he has in pre-season I can grudgingly live with that. For a bit, anyway

That's fine if we are playing just 3 at the back. There will be times when we play his 433 and not a £#%&!ing chance I'd trust Young as a left back.
