Default Steve Bruce retires from management

Will probably have ballooned to 40 stone by Christmas.

Managed 11 clubs in 25 years and won nothing. A truly awful, awful, terrible manager it must be said.

English manager innit. Just continually fail from one job to the next.

You get journeyman managers just as you do players, in both cases it doesn't mean they can't do a decent job for much of the time.

I think we should be just a bit more respectful to a genuine United legend tbh

Clearly never a top manager, but won promotion to the Premier League 4 times. Saved a few teams from relegation. Got Hull to an FA Cup Final.

I think you’re right.

There’s 90 odd league clubs in England, not everyone can have a managerial genius. Managers are like clubs, they find their natural level. That’s why Moyes died on his arse so horribly at United.

Thing is fans of average clubs don’t accept that fact, so they take offence at having the likes of Bruce as their manager.

Agreed. If he was an Italian called Stefano Bruchini he would probably still be getting Premier league jobs with that record.

Was also always a big fan of how many times he ended sentences with "...that's for sure" in post match interviews.

Apparently he recommended Eddie Howe to Newcastle

Maybe a DoF role is the way to go for him.

Tbf don't think it's ability that the fans question with Bruce so much as the lack of loyalty, averaged 18 months at nine different clubs and managed both teams in Birmingham, Sheffield and the north east. Will never not love the bloke for those goals against Wednesday

It’s a pretty impressive career in an industry/role that chews people up and spits them out. Slippy G and Frank are nearly done and they’ve barely done 5 years each.

Love Brucey

Some interesting tidbits from players that played under him on Undr the Cosh at times . Could be the last of the Old School managers. Last of a dying breed
