united and city have got to where we are at right now by different methods, but basically over the past 2 or 3 seasons we've both been operating in the same way, using windfall money like confetti and throwing it at anything that moves...

the only difference was that at least united had a manager who was trying to build a new continental approach and who was prepared to bring kids through the ranks at the earliest opportunity.

and then all the usual suspects b***hed and whined like babies and that manager was replaced by one who has pretty much only ever proved his quality by buying teams and sending them out to win at all costs...

meanwhile city spent a few seasons grooming guardiola, our former manager's most successful student, and now they have the new contemporary version of what we have just rejected...
