Not sure it would have been the best for us or for him

Brilliant player for the club, but we needed to move in a different direction at the time?

Didn't Fergie also say he didn't want him to go?

He could have stayed if he didn't expect to start every game, though its not always easy to adjust to that.

Cole was absolutely brilliant. Absolutely the type of player were missing now, an utter pain in the arse for opposition defenders and very hard to read. He had a unique style of creating shooting opportunities for himself out of nothing.

Can't find it on YouTube but towards the end of the season 97-98, his equaliser at Ewood

He did, yes. I'm sure he mentioned wanting more guaranteed game time ahead of the 2002 World Cup.
