good question. nothing explains just how #@&%!ed some of the decisions have been and the persistence with what isn't working. by multiple managers.

Seem to remember Van Gaal doing exactly the same thing - worked a treat, came back fitter and better.

Always happens when back from serious injury, fly through the first few games on adrenaline and then suffer a loss of form. He'll be fine in a few weeks.
Should have done better on the second goal, but there were multiple mistakes. Smalling too far across, Fellaini out of position, Pogba inexcusably just letting his man run in behind (I do not care what his best position is in that moment, he has to be more responsible)

We might not see the best of Shaw until next year, need to be careful not to overplay him while still working on his conditioning.

The manager shouldn't name and shame. You keep that sort of stuff in the changing room.

He did the same last week with Lingard and MickeyT.

The manager should defend players publicly and %@#$&! them behind closed doors.

Pogba did pass the man onto Fellaini to go out to cover for Shaw, he just did it far too slowly and Fellers reacted far too slowly. £#%&! knows where Smalling was going

Some more info:

Quote:
According to The Times, the England international was struggling with injury at the time of the goal after aggravating a groin problem.

However, Mourinho failed to mention Shaw’s injury after the match, and the report suggests his team-mates cannot believe the treatment of a player who has “suffered with physical and mental frailties throughout his short career.”

The 20-year-old was dogged by hamstring issues in his first season at Old Trafford and missed the majority of last season after suffering a horrific leg break.

Meanwhile, Shaw is understood to have regular sessions with a sports psychologist after finding the pressure of playing for United hard to deal with.
So he was struggling physically again, as he was against City toward the end, after a year out injured. Colour me shocked.

The bit about him having sports psychology sessions is interesting. I've heard him talk & he's under no illusions about the expectations at United, he's a brilliant player when he's fit & in form. Sadly it's been a touch fleeting so far, but he's only 20. Neville only broke into the side at 20 if memory serves, let alone having the sort of upheaval that the club has gone through & the price tag Shaw has.

He'll be a mainstay of the side for years to come, same with Martial. The big question is who emerges as a leader out of these lads, and who the £#%&! do they learn from in the short term? Zlatan for a season, maybe two. Basti has been shite, Rooney might be doing wonderful things for the lads off the pitch but his performances are shambolic, everywhere you look you struggle to see the kind of characters you associate with a United side & especially a successful one.

Unless there's a Roy Keane out there waiting to be plucked & sat in the middle of the pitch, echoing the gaffer, it's going to be a tough gig getting the side up to scratch.

Progress doesn't need to be immediate, it does need to be tangible though & we're very much seemingly reliant upon throwing our caps on yesterday's men at the moment.
