they knocked out chelsea and barcelona before easily beating bayern in the final. he took out guardiola, van gaal and ancelotti in the knock-outs - now that is £#%&!ing impressive
It was very impressive. Finally breaking Inter's European phobia is one of his biggest achievements. The treble record a slight red herring given the state of Italian football was such that Mancini did three titles on the bounce. There have been far far greater sides in Italian football history than that inter team, but they hold that record.

Very fortunate to get past Barca mind. But most teams get luck along the way when winning a cup.

there have been greater italian sides than guardiola's barcelona as well.

you'll be defending guardiola's record at bayern next on the basis that heynckes' treble is overrated because domestic success in a one team league is worth jack... oh hang on, it was a two team league still then...

inter matched barcelona over 2 legs of course, and turned them over 3-1. they were no more lucky than united were in 99. they played a series of classic knock-out ties and ended up winning all of them.

They had a bit of luck. Barca had to drive to Milan due to the ash cloud which threw off preparation. And Pique had a perfectly good goal disallowed in stoppage time of the second leg. But as with United, you get those bits of luck.

Guardiola's Barca the best side in the last twenty years for me, but they got through to Rome by the skin of their teeth against Chelsea. Again, most sides who win a cup can trace back that bit or fortune or a good break. Barca in 2011 pretty dominant tbf.

united autumn 07 to spring 09 for me

for me barca were ordinary in the group stage that year, almost got sucker-punched by arsenal in the knock-outs, and they blatantly had the referee in their pocket (again) in the semi final 1st leg with real in madrid...

Re that abomination on Thursday evening, as bad as anything I saw last season and the one before. Dull as £#%&!. No pressing without the ball, no intent with it, and no £#%&!ing idea who is playing where and (supposed to be) doing what. Where are the creative players, where's the midfield and where are the full backs? Appear to have one in Shaw but that's about it.

How much spent and still gaps in the starting XI?
