Didn't we have someone (Rooney?) suspended for the start of the season once because they got sent off in a pre season friendly? The only time I've ever heard of it happening before or since.

Yeah, in the Amsterdam tournament wasn't it. Then I'm sure Gerrard or some other scouse £#%&!er got sent off the year later and wasn't banned..

However, what is happening after just 15 minutes is that Rooney is already chasing the ball all over the pitch to try and make something happen. Receiving the ball, turning to find a pass and literally nothing happening in front of him.

He's spending more time in midfield than anywhere else. Where he is supposed to be is a different question.

The role he's playing has certain midfield responsibilities regardless.
