Default Can Zlatan and Rooney play together?

Legit question, they do exactly the same thing, drop deep, never run behind the defense...

Self created problem as well as we had the English Ronaldo on the team...

It's gonna be Mourinho's biggest challenge, either he contradicts himself and play Rooney at CM in a 433 or he benches one of the old farts...

Not easy to run behind a defence that never leaves the 18 yard box tbh

Nah. They've been training together for a whole week now, time to give up on them I think.

rashford on the bench while the old timers plodded around was a sorry sight...

then rashford isolated up front with the player most likely to pick his runs already subbed was a sorry sight as well.

a few more weeks of that and we'll be fed the "well, he's had plenty of chances but he has to take them" spiel...

hopefully this doesn't play out.

Short answer is NO!

The question will be who will be easier to bench?

Rooney can't play with anyone in his current state and its debateable if he ever formed a good partnership with anyone.

People say he sacrificed himself on the LW but fact was he was actually more effective coming in from the left a lot of the time, similar to martial and henry.

If he was the best in the middle we'd have kept him there.

We didn't put Ronaldo up front sometimes because we didnt trust him defensively, it was because when we're camped in our own box and need to break we need someone who could get the ball, carry it, hold it up, and impose himself on defenders and only he could do it in our team. The rest of the time he was more effective as a winger so we played him there.

£#%&!ing football fans and their myths.

Looked pretty sharp for about 10 minutes first half tbf to the lad. Another 8 games or so and he might even be up to speed.

Will be interesting to see how it works away from home. Mourinho places that big emphasis on the counters being quick and you've got two slow forwards up top. Martial surely will retain a high position on the left and be absolutely vital to the transitions.

At home it shouldn't be too much of a problem, although Rooney will come under great pressure if we do sign Pogba.

Martial is going to have to start being far more efficient with his opportunities to do something useful..

Why is Rooney under threat from Pogba....?

Mou has stated Rooney will be played up top....

He was in great form towards the end of the season. Any second season syndrome and our counter attacks could be a bit dead.

Mourinho talks %@#$&!s, pal. He said he doesn't like multifunctional players and has played Blind in defence and midfield, and apparently switched Young and one or two others about. Pogba for the no10 role will be a growing call if Rooney plays like shite early doors, surely.
