what was dangerous back then though, were the crowd avalanches.....the barriers at some grounds were too far apart or in some cases, there were none.

it was bad enough before the games when you used to sing yourself hoarse for an hour and got jostled about.....but if you scored, sometimes it got proper mental.

and at a place like the old Bolton away end, the steps were £#%&!in almost knee high.......

Default All seater stadia

was about the gentrification of football and looking to attract a completely different demographic ie the kind of mongs who pack ot and everywhere else these days. A thousand clueless ABC 1's are worth 10000 unsavoury grunts.

There was an excellent book a few years back - how they stole our game - or some such.

It should help boost the crowds and the atmosphere too. Can get more people in a smaller space so it would be perfect for kids tickets, or just cheaper adult tickets, while maintaining the high prices for exec tickets and seated tickets and thus not denting matchday revenue, maybe even boosting it because there are more people and they have more money to spend on food inside.

It's a good thing all round to be honest, and a long time coming.

Fairly good piece on it here in the Graun

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2...-park-terraces

Falls down a bit where it talks about the pricing structure though. The increase in ticket prices was down to a number of other factors as well as reduced capacity.

St Helens have just opened a brand new stadium with terraced stands at either end of the ground. Obviously, it's smaller then your average Premier League ground, but it's a ridiculous situation we're in where the Government, FA and League all claim standing is dangerous, while other (similar) sports have standing area's without mass casualties occurring on a weekly basis

Standing's being reintroduced in the SPL too. Once the likes of Rangers and Celtic have large, safe, standing sections, I think the PL will have to give in. It certainly seems to finally be going that way

so a stupid scouse @#%&! doesn't look at the facts and reality but just gives her deluded view of the situation and tries to impose it on everyone else.

Surprised at her to be honest. So unlike them.
