Default Ashley Young and Luke Shaw staying another year

Ashley Young and Luke Shaw will travel with the Manchester United squad on their pre-season tour of the United States despite being unlikely to play, according to reports.

Young and Shaw were sidelined for the latter part of the 2016/17 campaign after suffering hamstring and ankle injuries respectively.

The former has attracted the interest of Istanbul Basaksehir and Shaw, who could miss the start of next season, may see himself moved along by Mourinho following an underwhelming campaign.

Nevertheless, the pair, according to the Mirror‘s James Nursey, have been booked in to travel with the squad to Los Angeles next month, suggesting they could be included in the 54-year-old’s plans for next season.

More than happy to see Shaw get another season. He's a little bit thick. Needs more time than others to adjust to new surroundings
Young is harmless. Good to have for league cup and occasional seat on the bench in league
Would want Fellaini, Smalling and a few others out the door before these two.

Shaw has been put through the mincer (lol) but he's undoubtedly talented & as a kid that is maturing into a man, I can see him genuinely blossoming into a monster of a player. He only turns 22 in a couple of weeks, very few players have the experience he's had in the last few seasons - fingers crossed there's some resolve in there.

Young is the very definition of meh, however I no longer despise him & he's shown to be a great option to cover pretty much anywhere on the pitch without really causing us harm. I'd keep hold of him just for the sake of it really.

Agreed. Young was decent when called upon last season.

Valencia has been like a new signing. Genuinely wouldn't swap him for any other fullback.

Didn't start a game until about November did he? Then disappeared for months shortly after only to reappear during the injury crisis, then get injured..

Works hard and does whatever asked to the best of his limited ability tbf, used to £#%&!ing hate him and always see him as one of the signings that proved our determination to slide into mediocrity, quite admire his determination, hardwork and willingness to play anywhere now though.

Young is a top pro but unfortunately in terms of footballing ability is a bit shit
Shaw has all the talent to be a top left back but his professionalism has been called into question more than once

There is only one thing to do with both of them.....

Pleased for Young. He's completely won me over. Limited ability but one of our most reliable performers for the last 3 years, no matter where he plays. Deserves it.

Young has proven himself very adaptable and reliable.

A bit like Valencia, he may be more suited to full back due to limited wing play.

Had some really solid games last season and it would make sense for him to stick around as a said player if he's happy in that role.

Shaw, although a much better player, is a tougher one. He's not the kind to be a squad player. We need him to either establish himself as first choice or £#%&! off. If his head isn't right and he's constantly £#%&!ing injured, then we'll end up with another Phil Jones: 24 and still finding his feet.

Would prefer to £#%&! Young off and give his match time to the likes of Tuanzebe and Fosu-Mensah.

Shaw is in last chance saloon. If he stays, he needs to have his best ever season next year, which given the downward trajectory of his career so far seems a big ask. Appears to be too thick both physically and mentally, but it's also José's responsibility to develop him, as the kid was starting to blossom under the guidance of the Iron Tulip.

Young's been a 7+ every time and every where he's played, if you don't see that your as well off not watching football...

Give Shaw a make or break season, if he doesn't react, he is never/was never going to.

Young is a top red. Him and Valencia are good to have around the club.

Shaw is a tricky one. Don't like him posting instagram images of his midriff every time the manager criticizes him for being a lazy slob, do like his potential. Also been unlucky with injury tbf to the lad.

Played his best football behind Depay, and where did his 'potential' get him?
