Who do we play in Midfield against the vermin Sunday?

I'm thinking that whoever starts in midfield Wednesday night, wil NOT start against Liverpool.

I was thinking Carrick should start but then they will have Mascherano and Gerrard and i think Hargo will do a good job 'mixing' it against them 2.


I just don't know.....

We'll play 3 IMO and it'll be Carrick, ZoT, and Scholes.

Hargreaves and Anderson... Im pretty sure that was the midfield pairing when we played at their place and i remember Anderson did a good job on Gerrard that day.

Anyway, we need to worry about Bolton first before we concentrate on the scousers.

Listening to some folk on here, for one reason or another, none of the current midfield possibilities will work.

Hargreaves has to play given where Gerrard will play.

You can't play 2 holding midfielders. Just a fact of life.

Fletch to start on wednesday anyway. Perfect game for him.

I'd guess 20 mins for Carrick in second half then a start on Sunday.

Liverpool do. Or rather they play two deep lying midfielders. Alonso and Mascherano them, Carrick and Hargreaves us.

You can but it'd take some doing and a different formation. Gattuso and Pirlo were excellent together and in Hargreaves and Carrick we have players who could easily fill those roles.

You just think that. His lack of starts (and some of Nani's) are about giving Giggs and Scholes as many games as possible before they retire. I hope!

Has Carrick ever played midweek, weekend, midweek? There's a theory that he gets a bit leggy without lots of recovery time.

I certainly do think Fergie seems to be treating him very harshly but we're not seeing the full picture.
