And how many european cups would we have won if it wasn't for the stupid 3 foreigners rule in the 90's which meant we had to drop half of our first team including irish and welsh players. For me that team with Schmeical, Irwin, Kanchelskis, Giggs, Hughes, McClair , would've won it.

I think the more important point was why didn't United have the %@#$&!s to pay him what Juventus offered in 1999?
The money wasted on Tiabi alone would have covered the difference, never mind stuping up £40k a week to the Coke-head for a couple of seasons, then also paying good money for Carroll, then £7.8m for Barthez (who ended up being paid more than VdS anyway).... Or did Edwin simply not have the balls to come and fill Schmeichel's gloves in the first place? (sorry for the mixed metaphor). |
