Truth is, that the whole youth system they've put in place is a massive red (blue) herring, it's purely an FFP dodging tool. A huge increase in turnover from running it without spending any of their actual income. They aren't arsed if they ever get any actual players through. Sure they'll try and steal every young lad (or girl) with any potential and turn it into a farm, selling them on to further inflate turnover etc. and if one or 2 come through, all the better. They can also avoid the homegrown quota issues they experienced a couple of years ago by having plenty of stock to draw from. They would much rather spend their time buying the next big thing or the finished article and flexing their financial muscles wherever possible, and if it weren't for those gosh darn inconvenient FFP rules and player quota rules, they would be doing exactly that at levels never before seen.

maybe. he is brilliant at what he does but is what he does anywhere near enough in guardiola's system? that's what i really meant tbh.

you've nailed it on the much heralded youth set-up as well. it's purely a cynical operation designed to #@&%! block rival clubs and circumnavigate the financial and quota rules.

people get hypnotised by the shiny baubles they've added to the area, but without all that would they even have got use of the council house? that stadium is supposed to have a lasting legacy for the area ffs, so kissing city's arses for actually paying for it (to an extent) in kind is ridiculous. it's the £#%&!ing least they should do.

They'll probably move heaven and earth to try and get Messi or someone from Barca while Guardiola's there....seeing as he can't seem to do anything in Europe without Barcelona's all-star team, the £#%&!ing fraud.
They will quite possibly get Messi in a few years, but hopefully he will be past his best by then

Suarez might be open to it, and they could market it as a dig at us. Oh £#%&!, wish I hadn't thought of that
