Guardiola, Cruyff, and to a lesser extent Keegan are the only ones I can think of in the past 30 years who went straight in at a big club and did well. For a short time. Maybe Beckenbaur, but I don't know his managerial history that well. And even then, they likely had some experiece of managing people, if only for a short while prior to taking the job. I'm hoping Giggs is sensible and knows he has to manage elsewhere before even thinking of the united job. 2 or 3 years under van gaal, then take his chums to another club and work up. I guess it depends if he just wants to tick a box that says he was united manager for at least a couple of years or whether he wants to increase his chance of managing us for 10-20 years. If united went the sentimental route, I'd rather ole got the job. And I'm sure that would also give fergie what he wants. Quote:
And if Giggs gets off to the good start in management that Keane and robson both did, he'll probably get the united job when van gaal goes. Which would be a mistake, as the subsequent progress of robson and Keane's careers show after their initial impressive start. In robsons case, he looked made for united when at boro. |

If Giggs managed elsewhere he still wouldn't be good enough for you lot, unless he went to Chelsea or City he's got £#%&! all chance of winning a major trophy, Keane got Sunderland out of the shit and got them up he's not good enough, Bruce has won a few promotions and he wouldn't be good enough, Robson almost won trophies with £#%&!ing Middlesbrough and he wouldn't be good enough. Most of you think Martinez is a c*** and he's won the FA Cup with £#%&!ing Wigan.
What job is it that Giggs has to do that will pay his dues prove to you £#%&!ing naysayers that he deserves the job? Because honestly all that will happen is that you will say he's not qualified because he's never been in a title race with Reading or £#%&!ing Cardiff or some other c***s that no one could get near a league. It's like catch 22 to get the United job he has to go and cut his teeth in another job, but when he does he won't be used to dealing with the level United are at we should be looking elsewhere. |

Look, all these managers that are considered top guys (with the possible exception of Pep) started somewhere small. With Wenger it was Nancy, Ancellotti, Regiana, Fergie, St Mirren. Even Mourinho who people think started at Porto actually began at a tin pot Portuguese side after getting binned from Benfica. If you have it, you have it, and timing being what it is hopefully a vacancy comes when you are doing well. But I think it's essential you get used to being the man, making the calls and developing your own style, all while being under pressure, before calling the shots at a club like United. Fergie did too. Quote:
Never thought I'd be praying for 4th tbh. |
