Our problem is we don't stretch teams at all when they get set in their shape to defend with everyone behind the ball.
We're slow, ponderous and when our attackers are faced with a multitude of options they continuously pick the wrong one. Our attacking threat from wide areas is inconsistent to put it mildly. Martial looked unplayable for 20 mins in the first half then disappeared as soon as Bournemouth put two players on him. We don't seem to be able to play our way into the opponents penalty area without running out of ideas and the amount of attacks we squander by over-hitting passes is incredible. The distribution from our back 4 is also dreadful. |

most opponents have been camped in their own last 3rd for about 15 years at old trafford now. scholes dropped back to pick them apart from deeper, but once carrick goes we have no-one and most of the time we camp ourselves just in front of the opponent anyway and take a £#%&!ing age to circulate the ball into them and back out again, then wide and back inside, then rinse and repeat till one of them £#%&!s up a pass and we turn it over. then they break on us with about 2 passes too the edge of our box. over and over again for years now. it's not rocket science. we need to play quicker at home. stretch it wide again. and stretch it long. get pace in the centre of our attack. and use two strikers, one thru one off. we've tried to change this approach but never quite managed it. i think we should focus on perfecting it again now instead. something like this maybe |

The ingredients are there for a front two partnership with Zlatan dropping in, it's painfully obvious we need a plan b, the tactics in the second half against Bournemouth were woeful. |

Felt like an underdog success despite the British Record transfer fee. Coming back from a bad start, broken legs, all the speculation that he would be replaced. Loved how he changed as a player, from a pure goalscorer at Newcastle to a proper all round forward who could create, was selfless in his running and could form a partnership with anyone(except Eric), understated physical edge to his game as well. |
